User Interface Developer

Channel Velocity is seeking to hire a UI Developer to join our Channel Management System team.  We are a young, growing firm that auctions a variety of consumer electronics, appliances, power tools and musical instruments for manufacturers and retailers through eBay auctions, Amazon, client-branded storefronts and other online channels.  We service major brand name companies and are experiencing very rapid growth. We are currently preparing the technology as commercial software. 

The Application is a first for the industry given it is a Windows Client Server Multi-Channel eCommerce System. It is meant of use by mid to large size auction and eCommerce Sellers performing $1+ million per year in transactions online.

The candidate should have the minimum requirements:

  • at least 2 years of .NET development experience
  • At least one year with c# (2+years of java programming instead)
  • Experience with Winforms or MFC
  • Completed undergraduate degree in Computer Science or an Engineering Discipline.

The successful candidate will be fluent or at least familiar with the following:

  • Winforms UI and built-in controls in .Net using C#.
  • Complex 3rd party components such as grids, spreadsheets and charting tools.
  • Microsoft Sql Server/T-SQL.
  • Hand-coded HTML.
  • Data Dynamics/Active Reports.
  • OOD patterns.
  • Wizards.
  • Requirements collection and validation.
  • Localization/Globalization.
  • International eCommerce, particularly in Europe.
  • Testabitility, maintainability and supportability.
  • WinSock.
  • SOAP.
  • XML/XSL/XPath.

Added Bonuses:

  • Masters in Computer Science or Engineering Discipline
  • Previous experience with eBay API, Amazon API and/or eCommerce platforms
  • International platform development
  • Windows Client Server application development

Also, the successful candidate will:

  • Hopefully be familiar with the eBay user experience (as either a buyer or seller).
  • Be comfortable in a deadline sensitive environment.
  • Be willing to ask for help when necessary.
  • Work independently but share knowledge and learning.
  • Be unimpressed by a slick office and Herman Miller chairs, because we don’t have either of those.
  • Be able to have fun, make jokes (preferably ones that are funny), and be creative.

Candidate should possess excellent communication skills particularly technical writing skills.  The position requires a high energy level and the ability to prioritize heavy volume workload and custom development.
